Duty of Candour

Rees Healthcare is dedicated to the Safest and best Support and Care for all our Clients. Being open and honest with our Clients is vital. However, things may occasionally go wrong.

When things go wrong the client being cared for, who has suffered harm should be informed of what has happened and apology rendered.

Applies when an adverse event has caused harm or the potential to cause such as:

  1. Distress
  2. A serious injury has occurred
  3. Has long lasting effect on a client’s health or well-being

Mitigating Factors

  1. Be alert to incidents and make sure they are reported promptly and accurately
  2. When incidents occur act swiftly to apologize and share information with affected clients and their families
  3. Seek advice and help from Line Manager
  4. Contact Rees Healthcare Health & Safety

Low harm requiring minor treatment (such as first aid) will not have to be reported in this way. However, need to be treated seriously, given due and appropriate response. All such matters must be reported and documented.
